The WLCP at Hoover Elementary strives to introduce and educate our children (Grades K - 6) about different languages and cultures through workbooks, classroom participation, games, songs and class time projects. Classes are scheduled prior to the start of school. The WLCP is a special project of the Hoover PTA and is coordinated by parent volunteers.

Guten Tag!
This week we are learning about Halloween in Germany and St. Martin's Feast (Martinstag).  The students learned how to say what they were going to be for Halloween this year.  I think poor Ulli had the longest word - verrückter Wissenschaftler!  The new (highly unrelated) favorite (and most disgusting) word is for cockroach - the students had fun saying it and it wouldn't surprise me if they've been calling anything and everything a Kakerlak!

Hallo und Willkommen im WLCP!

I'm so excited to have such enthusiastic students in German!  On Monday, the students chose their own German names and made name tags.  I now know your students as Wolfgang, Ulli, Matthias, Jan, Karl, Sabine, and Ilsa!  I'm sure your child(ren) would love to share their new name with you!
We'll work on names and introductions again on Wednesday and my goal is to get a better idea of how much each student already knows.  We seem to have a couple students who have already had a lot of exposure to German, which is great!  We'll also learn something new that they will also be able to share with you!

Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns!  We have a great year ahead of us!

Liebe Grüße,
Alex (Frau Lubbers)
